Fancy floral

Hey loves!

Today's post was inspired by these cute floral flats from target.

I picked them up from a clothing sharing site called Poshmark for 6 bucks!         Follow me at Newme1.

I love the way mint and blue compliment eachother and they just scream spring. One of my favorite season is spring because bold colors and florals are in!  What are your favorite bold colors to rock in spring?

My outlet (lifestyle post)

Whew! Life has been nothing but hectic for me this past year! I am so disappointed that I have not been able to dedicate time to my blog.

Have you ever been so caught up in something or someone that you lost sight of what really makes you happy? Have you ever been in a place where you never  really knew what even made you happy in the first place? Or maybe what you may have thought made you happy in the past really isn't what brings you joy in your current future?

I think we all experience that at some point in our lives. As humans, we are constantly maturing and evolving. Life is about progression and to stay stagnant or complacent is just plain ludicrous! Waking up each day and experiencing life is a blessing! Sometimes experiencing different things or meeting new people  may make us question what certian things or individuals bring substance and value to our lives.

I have definitely been doing some soul searching lately and recently I have found that I am a total "PP". If you aren't familiar with the term PP,  That's a People Pleaser. Yes, we all are PP's at some point in our lives and it's a constant struggle not to be when you care for others. It's common that we lose sight of ourselves because we get so caught up in making others happy, which is also very important; however it is also important to love and care for ourselves as well.

I have recently come to the conclusion that I have not been doing all of what I enjoy and what makes me happy. Living for others and not myself is a habit that I haven't learned to balance. Trying to make myself into a picture perfect individual for others has caused me to forget who I am and what I'd like to be.

I'm working on that daily, and I challenge anyone that is struggling with this to do so as well. It's very important that we learn to love, value and appreciate ourselves. Never allow yourself to be defined by someone else's opinion of you! Surround yourself with individuals that embrace and encourage your personal advancement and aren't intimidated or jealous by it. Your happiness is what is important!

This post was a little (well, maybe alot..)  off topic of fashion, more like a life style post. But I needed to get that out! I am going to try to be more active on my blog because it's what makes me happy! :)

Anyway, just be as, this is a total "blah" ootd post... Still working on my camera situation!  😩

Thanks for reading!

Current Obsession-Sam & Libby for Target

Over the past few years, I have been very impressed with Target's colloboration with some big name fashion designers. They have really started to "come up" in the world of fashion so to speak, and have started to carry tons of trendy designers at affordable prices. I am a total frugalista, so trendy, affordable but good quality is always a plus for me. Recently, I was in Target and I came across the brand Sam & Libby. Sam & Libby Edelman are a husband and wife duo that have been around since the 80's. You may be familiar with the popular eponymous brand "Sam Edelman". The couple took a hiatus from the fashion world for about 20 years and recently collaborated with Target producing the most amazing shoes at accessible prices. I stumbled upon these Beautiful burgandy pumps and I instantly fell in love!
The bold rich burgandy color is so feminine with a very modest 4" heel that makes it incredibly easy to walk in and very comfortable. I have worn them for a full 8 hour work day with no issues. They were on sale for 30 bucks, which was a total STEAL!
I also came across these beauties, and they are in my opinion, the most amazing shoes I have ever seen at Target to date. They are EXTREMLY comfortable and very stylish. The heel is also very modest, with a 4" heel as well, and also very easy to walk in. I am not usually a flamboyant person so I was a little scepticle of the spikes, but they are really subtle and add a great edge and flair to them. They first caught my eye for over $40 and I was tempted to buy them then. But my inner frugalista knew that because the holiday season was over, they would be marked down. I went back a few weeks later, and to my surprise they had been marked down to 30 bucks! Nice! Sam & libby are also launching handbags and accessories for Target with talks of growing the brand to include intimates, fragrance and apparel. I can't wait to see what fab peicies they intoduce in the near future. What do you think about Sam & Libby? Shont'e

In blog world, we all deserve a do over...

Okay, so... My first few posts totally did not turn out the way I expected or envisioned. Focusing on other people's AWESOME blogs caused me to develop way too many unrealistic expectations and no confidence to back me up. I pondered on deleting my blog a thousand times and Then I had a realization..... In a way, this blog is my story. My book. I am the author, and I can make it become whatever I want it to become. I lost some enthusiasm because I felt that due to the fact that I had no one to take my photos, that my thoughts, opinions, and creative outlook on style was not worthy to be shared with the world. After a lot of reading and soul searching, some new found confidence helped me to see that I have the ability to do whatever I want with this. If I have to take pictures with my phone that is okay because it is MY blog. If I take pictures with my awesome camera, that is okay too! Because it is MY blog. I also had some time to think about what I really wanted my blog to be about. After a few name changes, I came up with Portrait of a laydee. This blog is a fashion/lifestyle blog that will consist of everything from talks about hair to me ranting about how my shoes don't fit after pregnancy.. This is my blog. This is my portrait. I'm still painting, But Welcome!
